Pocklington Methodist Circuit 29/17

In addition to the Pocklington Methodist Church located within Pocklington itself, the Circuit includes village chapels at Melbourne, Barmby Moor, Bolton with Fangfoss, Millington and Newton - on - Derwent. Details are as follows:

Melbourne
Located 8 miles from Pocklington in the Vale of York. Membership of 23 (total community roll of 118) with weekly Sunday morning worship at 10.00am with a lively Sunday School meeting prior to the morning service.

Barmby Moor
Located 2 miles from Pocklington on the B1246, close to the A1079 York to Hull road. Membership 13 (community roll of 21) with Sunday morning worhip at 10.30am.

Bolton with Fangfoss
Located 5 miles from Pocklington, membership of 15 (community roll of 68) with Sunday morning worship at 10.30am.

Millington
Located 3 miles from Pocklington up in the Yorkshire Wolds, membership 8 (community roll of 10). A Local Ecumenical Project with the Church of England. Services are held in the Parish Church for Morning Worship at 9.15am.

Newton - on Derwent
Located 8 miles from Pocklington, membership 3 - a class of Pocklington - (community roll of 28) is closed for regular Sunday worship apart from occasional services at Church festivities. The Methodist premises are now used as a village Community Centre.

LAY LEADERSHIP

Pastoral care is structured at Pocklington with Class Leaders having Pastoral oversight of their class. In the villages all members take care of each other in a pastoral way as the need arises.

An integral part of Circuit work is carried out by Circuit Staff Meetings made up of the Minister, Circuit Stewards, Circuit Treasurers, Circuit Property Steward and Circuit Meeting Secretary.

To assist in communications throughout the Circuit a directory of all Circuit and Chapel Officers is available to all members and friends, also Community Roll Directories are maintained for each Chapel that include both members and non-members, these documents are updated annually.

Twice a year a Circuit Meeting, comprising Circuit Officers and appointed representatives from the local Church Councils, meet to agree joint activities and mutual guidance.

Twice a year each local church holds its Church Council, comprising the Minister, local church officers and appointed representatives from the Annual General Church Meeting, to agree local business.
